Meka pursued a career in modeling at the age of
17, and throughout the years have built a reputation for herself,
a representative for plus size models in both fashion and business
for 31 years. As she can be seen on the runway strutting, or backstage
preparing for her own production. It is something that Meka has
a great passion for that keeps her motivated in becoming the best
in runway, model coach, fashion stylist, and owner of “AKEM
FASHION AND DESIGNS” BOUTIQUE.
She
has been an advocate for Human Trafficking Awareness for the past
4 years, producing the runway show that benefits the cause. This
year will mark the 4th anniversary of AKEM Runway Show, “Hidden
In Plain Sight” and she had the privilege to receive a proclamation
from the Mayor of Houston during her 2nd show.
As
each year passes it helps to bring more awareness to the community
and youths of what to look out for, the warning signs.
They
say it takes a village to raise a child, and she believes it takes
