The soulful balladeer began his musical journey in his hometown of Detroit at the tender age of 13, singing lead in the church choir.  He was performing in the nightclub at the age of 16.  His musical experiences in the motor city served as the framework and the foundation for his vocal stylings today.  As a young lad he met Marvin Gaye.  He performed in a vocal group for two years with Lawrence Payton Jr, who has since replaced the late Obie Benson of the Four Tops.  He enlisted in the military and performed when ever given the opportunity to, opening for the popular comedian Jimmy Walker, aka JJ of the television show Good Times.  Following his military stent he resumed singing in Detroit, releasing his first record titled Always On My Mind.  Although getting great reviews he was not greeted with much success.  Somewhat discouraged he returned back to the academic setting and pursued a medical degree.

Solidified with a medical career Al resumed his passion for singing.  He moved to Saginaw in 1992 and fine tuned his musical craft.  He has had an intriguing musical career, sharing the stage with such greats as Enchantment, New Birth, Latimore, Willie Clayton and Bobby Rush to name a few. His new album is receiving lots of airplay, and an inspirational piece titled I See Jesus can be heard on Vickie Hill’s Gospel Show, 107.1FM every Sunday.  98.9 FM out of Flint is hammering other cuts by Al Lindsey.

His music can be purchased locally at the Music Planet, 517 Carpenter Road in Flint, MI, (810) 787-0099.  His online distributer is cdbaby at Cdbaby.com, thereby allowing downloads with iTunes and the like.  Al Lindsey is an artist to watch out for!
