Houston’s Own Julianna Traicoff Connecting Music With The World

Born and raise Houstonian Julianna Traicoff, violin and viola, made her debut in 2007 performing with the Houston Symphony Orchestra and is currently an active performer and session player based in the London area with the Melos Sinfonia and the Adoramus Choir and Orchestra. Originally from Texas, she has given solo and chamber music recitals across the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Canada, and the United States. In 2011 at the Rakoczi Castle in Sárospatak, Hungary, her string quartet gave the premiere of Slovakian composer Miroslav Linha’s first string quartet, and in 2012 they performed with German pianist Martin Helmchen and cellist Marie-Elisabeth Hecker. Recently, they are preparing to give performances of the Beethoven Opus 18 quartets.

Also a musicologist and fluent in German, Julianna received her Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University as the recipient of both the Edward and Kirsten Peckerman Scholarship and the James Leslie Scholarship. While at Princeton, she focused on the analysis of Beethoven’s music and its cultural and political impact on Europe pre-1945, collaborating with and studying the composer’s string quartets under the Brentano Quartet. Now pursuing a Masters of Arts at the Royal Academy of Music studying under Mayumi Fujikawa, Julianna is currently most interested violin treatises of the twentieth century and what they mean for the performer today. She performs on a pre-World War Two modern Italian violin from Bologna by maker Claudio Gamberini.
