San Antonio Martin Luther King March is an annual
event that brings the city together to support, with
family, friends and city officials. The Onlive Hall
of Fame Café, located in the heart of the eastside
of San Antonio held a kick-off party and the owner
April Pantheress Winn opened up the Dreamweek 2019
with host comedian Jai9 and DJ P Rock. There was live
performances by Southern Soul Claytie Bonds, R&B
artist D Plair, Brianna Malone singing while performing
on her ukulele, poetic Cedric Bellamy, author Vivian
Lewis, VBC Media Group and Scorpio Record Management
and Promotional. The event was an afternoon of good
food and socializing.
19, 1987 the Commission and the City of San Antonio
held its first official Martin Luther King, Jr. March.
Each year, a variety of educational, inspirational
and celebratory events honor one of the nation's most
revered civil rights leaders.
hosts the largest march in the nation, with approximately
300,000 participants and the signature event, the
annual Martin Luther King, Jr. March, is scheduled
for Monday, January 21, 2019. The march will begin
at 10:00 a.m. at the MLK Academy located at 3501 MLK
Drive and end at Pittman-Sullivan Park, 1101 Iowa.
